Abstract
In this study. the behavior of anisotropic rock masses are investigated by using a numerical
analysis. The bedding rock sample is modeled as a linear elastic transversely isotropic material and a finite-element program is modified in the two-dimensional plane-strain state to determine the magnitude and distribution of stress nonuniformity developed at the center portion of a specimen and the interface between the triaxoal loading cap and the specimen.
Based on the results obtained. it is found that the stress nonuniformity developed under the uniaxial loading increases continously with increasing the degree of anisotropy and the applied loading. In triaxial loading. the stress nonuniformity decreases as the confming pressure approaches up to a certain value equ려 to the applied axial stress, beyond which it however increases. It is also found that specimen's height to width ratio should be higher than 2.5: 1 in order to have the uniform stress distribution under the triaxial loading.

  14. The stress - strain behavior of asan marine soil

Abstract
The undrained behavior of Asan marine soil was investigated by using an automated triaxial testing device. The stress-strain behavior at the pre- and post- failure state of marine soil under undrained compression and extension conditions was compared with the behavior of pure silt, pure clay and the overall behavior of Asan marine soil was predicted with the modified Cam-day model and the bounding surface model.
The marine soil sampled in Asan bay area was clayey silts with 70% silt-30% clay content and the testing samples were prepared in both undisturbed and remolded conditions. All samples are normally consolidated with 400 kPa of effective mean confining pressure and each sample is unloaded to 200, 100, 67 kPa, respectively. And then the shear test was performed with different confining pressure.
According to experimental results, there exists an unique failure line whose slope is lower than silt’s and higher than clay’s. It is identified that the undrained shear strength of normally consolidated samples increases after crossing the phase transformation line because of volume dilation tendency which is not seen in clay.
Overconsolidated samples show different soil behavior compared with pure silt due to its tendency of change in volume. It is also found that the overall behavior of Asan marine soil cannot be predicted precisely with the modified Cam-clay model and the bounding surface model.

  13. Analysis of downdrag on bitumen coated piles

Abstract
In this study bitumen coated piles are investigated based on the effect of downdrag and of bitumen coating on the load-settement cmve of a pile. The downdrag prediction was done by in-situ bitumen-coated piles and the analysis was performed with various assumptions as to the pile being coated or uncoated and whether or not downdrag. Based on the results. it is found that when a pile is coated with bitumen the settlement due to downdrag is reduced significantly, but the ultimate load is also reduced. It is also found that though the application of a bitumen coating increases the cost per pile comapared to the uncoated pile. bitumen coating is an economical alternative because the bitumen coating can allow the load more per pile than the load corresponding to the cost for bitumen coating.

  12. Sequential analysis of earth retaining structures using p-y curves for subgrade reaction

Abstract
탄성지반에서 지반스표링을 이용하여 굴착단계별로 토류벽의 거동을 검토하였다. 토막선형함수를 이용하여 지반계수에 따른 p-y 특성곡선올 산정할 수 었는 수학척 모델을 사용하였고, 토류벽의 굴착단계는 beam-column 방법에 의해 분석 하였다. 개발된 프로그랭의 신뢰도는 예측치와 실제변위의 비교를 통해 검증하였다. 건설단계를 잘 반영하므로, 앵커로 지지된 토류벽의
변위예측이 향상되였다. 분석결과에 따르면 제안된 방법은 민감도해석에 적용되는 계수들의 상대적 중요성의 평가에 효과적으로 이용될 수 있다.
